Book Your 15-Minute Consultation and See If I'm the Right Therapist for You
Get to Know Your Therapist Before Your First Session
In this short video, I'll introduce myself, explain my therapy approach, and share what you can expect from our 15-minute consultation. It's your chance to see if we're a good fit before scheduling your first session.
What is a Consultation?
Consultation is a chance for you to get to know me, and it is a chance for me to get to know you. In our consultation, everything is all about you, and because it's all about you, you have the right to know what type of therapist you work with. So, during our consultation, in the first couple of minutes, I will be talking about myself. I'll tell you about my background, my experiences, what I have done, and on top of that, I'm going to tell you how I conduct my sessions and what my expectations. Once I'm done with all the details about myself, now becomes your chance to tell me a little bit about you and what you are seeking help with.
Although this is a very short time that we have—it's only 15 minutes—it's still a chance for me to get an overview of what you're going through and what you need help with. Then, I will talk about how I am going to use what I’ve already told you—my education, my expertise, and the clients I have worked with and what you have told me about you—to help you with what you need.
Next, it will be your chance to see if I am going to be a good fit for you based on our conversation, and if I am the person who can support you as you move forward and take the next step in your journey.
In order for us to be the best that we can be, sometimes we have to be critical. So, this is also a chance for you to ask questions, to dig a little deeper and ask me for more fine details. Although this time is short and sweet, it's still a chance for us to get to know each other. Once all of this is done, then we'll talk about scheduling our intake session. The intake session is where we're going to extend this 15-minute consultation into a longer period of time.
The consultation helps take away a lot of guesswork because the most important thing before you seek therapy is to find someone you connect with. Finding that person based on their picture or what they’ve put in their bio on a website doesn't usually help. What helps is actually scheduling that session and hearing from the therapist. It’s really important to get a sense of what you’re going to be expecting during your counseling sessions.
When it comes to me, my approach is client-focused. I focus on you and put you at the center of our session with no judgment. I give you the chance to be yourself, explore yourself, and find the deep-rooted cause of what you're seeking help with. My practice is mainly focused on four categories. The biggest one is CBT, which is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The next is DBT, which is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am also a certified Sex Informed Therapist, and finally, as a Gottman Level Two Therapist, I utilize all of these modalities to support you in the best way possible.
Now, if you don't know what these terms mean, I definitely have other videos that explain what CBT, DBT, Sex Informed Therapy, and Gottman Therapy are. In general, I use all of these modalities to help you better understand yourself, become more present in the here and now, recognize yourself, and understand the deep root cause of what you’re trying to improve or better within yourself. I look forward to our 15-minute consultation, and if you have any questions you'd like answers to, head down to my website at atreef.com, and I'm sure you can find the answers you’re looking for. Or you can just give me a call, and I will be right there for you. Thank you for taking the time, and I hope to see you in our session.
